I have a master’s degree in biomedical engineering and a background in software development. I have been working at the Institute for Medical Research and Durham VA for over 10 years and I manage a study team of approximately 150 staff members as part of my full-time position to conduct a high volume of retrospective, prospective, and tissue-based research. My work has primarily focused on urology and oncology topics related to prostate cancer, bladder cancer, and interstitial cystitis; however, I have also contributed to research in colorectal cancer, breast cancer, head/neck cancer, lung cancer, and clubfoot domains.
I have active WOC status at the VA and I am intimately familiar with VA privacy, security, and regulatory requirements. I am familiar with VA-specific technologies such as VINCI, JLV, and CPRS. I have a personal interest in public health and tech-based health initiatives, but I truly enjoy working in many different areas of medical research.
